Jared Still

Oracle ACE

Recognized for his numerous presentations at Oracle conferences like RMOUG, Hotsos, IOUG and more, Jared Still is well-known within the Oracle community. His colleagues and peers describe him as meticulous, as he values the importance of detailed, organized documentation in order to provide full transparency and clarity to his clients. Jared’s dedication to identify the root causes of issues strengthens his ability to troubleshoot intractable problems. When he isn’t relishing in low-level, in-depth technical projects, Jared can be found auto racing, which has been a passion of his for many years.

Jared has been an Oracle DBA in health insurance and manufacturing environments since 1994 (and version 7.0.13 of Oracle). He first began dabbling with Perl in 1993 and it was love at first sight. Perl became an integral part of his Oracle toolkit when it was used to rapidly prototype and implement complex reporting based on data in Oracle databases. Jared has been working with databases of various ilks since 1988, and along the way has also worked as a Unix system administrator. When not riding herd on the databases at the OK Corral, he likes to spend time tinkering on his car, fly fishing, or sitting on the deck in the backyard at his home doing absolutely nothing. He can be reached at jkstill@cybcon.com. He is a member of the Oracle Oak Table and has made many more contributions to Oracle and Information Systems that he chooses to remember.

In real life, Tim lives in Westminster in colorful Colorado with his partner, Kellyn Pot'vin-Gorman, who is herself an extremely talented multi-platform database administrator on Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL and she blogs as DBAKevlar. He has two children, son Peter and daughter Marika who are out in the world on their own, and he lives with Kellyn and her son Sam, her daughter Caitlyn, and her son Joshua.
